Strangio was arrested in Diemen, The Netherlands on March 12, 2009, and is alleged to have been one of two shooters who murdered six Italian men who had connections to a rival ‘Ndrangheta clan. The six men were murdered in retaliation for the murder of the wife of ‘Ndrangheta boss Giovanni Nirta in December 2006. The six murders took place in front a Da Bruno restaurant in Duisburg, Germany.

According to prosecutors he is a leading member of a clan that exerts control over the village of San Luca and the surrounding area. He and his clan are said to be involved in murders, weapon trafficking, drug smuggling, money laundering, and extortion.
