Some men are above the law. In Mexico this group of men tends to be quite large at the moment. High-placed drug lords live a life of luxury wherever they choose. Even inside prison walls. And when they want out? They just walk out the front door. Like three Sinaloa Cartel leaders did last Wednesday at a medium security prison in Mexico City.

Sinaloa Cartel kingpins Victor Manuel Felix Beltran, Luis Fernando Meza Gonzalez, and Yael Osuna Navarro were wanted in the United States on international drug trafficking and murder charges and were facing extradition.

Sinaloa Cartel’s financial wizard

37-year-old Victor Manuel Felix Beltran (photo above, middle) is the son of Victor Felix Felix, who was drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman’s financial wizard. He was extradited to the United States in 2011 and is currently serving a life sentence there – just like his boss “El Chapo”. It is believed his son took over as the Sinaloa Cartel’s accountant.

The three narco kingpins managed to escape from the medium security Reclusio Sur penitentiary in Mexico City on Wednesday without even breaking a sweat. They passed five secured passageways before stepping into a prison vehicle and vanishing into thin air.

Mexican Kings

Police interrogated ten prison officials, some of them confessed helping the cartel bosses with their prison break. They probably had a choice: Money or death. So why not take the money and unlock some doors, they must’ve thought. When there are no police to protect citizens, then the violent and rich cartels and their leaders will continue to rule Mexico as kings.
