Alleged Bonanno family captain Peter Lovaglio was arrested Friday morning and charged with assaulting the owner of a popular sushi restaurant in Staten Island. According to crime reporter Murray Weiss at DNAInfo.com, 54-year-old Lovaglio hit the owner “with a cocktail glass, slicing his face and blinding one of his eyes.”

Lovaglio is rumored to have a problem with alcohol abuse. With the attack occurring around 2:40 a.m. it is likely he had hit the bottle that evening. After hitting the owner with the glass, the Bonanno mobster quickly left the restaurant and managed to evade arrest for twelve days – the assault took place November 1.

Lovaglio is currently held on $25,000 bail. He had been released from prison on March 5 of this year and, judging by his behavior, is eager to get back there as soon as possible. Lovaglio already spent several years behind bars for extortion.

When we at Gangsters Inc. heard about the Bonanno mobster getting into a fight at a sushi bar we could not help but think of that scene from the movie Donnie Brasco. If you are not familiar with it, here it is below:
