An international drug boss from the Belgian city of Antwerp was placed on the country’s most wanted list, this week. 55-year-old Rachid Bouazza is a Moroccan national and was sentenced to a 20-year prison term in March for his leading role in a drug trafficking conspiracy.
Bouazza led an organization that smuggled large shipments of cocaine from the Dominican Republic into the port of Antwerp. According to Belgium media, he has been a leading figure in the city’s underworld for the better part of two decades.
In May of 2013 he was sentenced to 4 years behind bars for drug trafficking. Rather than serve his sentence, he vanished and remained a fugitive ever since. Now, he finds himself standing in the spotlight.
